Delivering advanced heart care

As the area’s leader in cardiovascular services, Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health offers a full continuum of care to patients with heart conditions. An ongoing major renovation of our nationally recognized Heart & Vascular Institute will enable us to serve our community’s needs well into the future.

The Heart & Vascular Institute – located on the second floor of the new state-of-the-art Frederick Building at Lancaster General Hospital -- offers diagnostics, as well as medical and surgical treatments for a variety of cardiovascular conditions.

Renovation and expansion of the institute’s procedural areas is now well under way. Three new Electrophysiology (EP) labs and four new Cardiac Catheterization (Cath) labs opened in 2019. Additional work on the space will continue over the next year.

Our dedicated and caring Cath lab teams care for thousands of patients each year, performing diagnostic and interventional procedures that uncover and correct a variety of cardiac issues. Our EP labs facilitate diagnosis and treatment of atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias, or abnormal heart rhythms.

The Heart & Vascular Institute renovation project will enable LGH’s cardiology team to deliver cutting-edge technology, as well as an enhanced experience to our patients. The improvements include new imaging equipment and a more spacious environment for patients who are undergoing life-preserving cardiovascular procedures.
