Our Commitment to the Community
At Lancaster General Health, we believe leadership is about responsibility. Since 1893, you've trusted us to keep you and your loved ones healthy and well. That's not a trust we take for granted. We're proud to be an essential part of this community, growing from a hospital in a three-story house in downtown Lancaster to a regional healthcare system.

Our membership in Penn Medicine unites us with a world-renowned, not-for-profit health system academic medical center for one reason: to keep you healthy and well. We are enhancing our commitment to our community by expanding the treatment options, the advanced care, and the life-saving cures we can offer every patient by being part of Penn Medicine.

The Strength of Our Integration

Penn Medicine's history of healing began more than two centuries ago with the founding of the nation's first hospital, Pennsylvania Hospital, in 1751 and the nation's first medical school at the University of Pennsylvania in 1765. Since then, Penn has been transforming medicine and lives.

Our integration with Penn Medicine brings the benefits of both health systems to every member of our community – all with a focus on helping you live the life you want to live.

Research

Today, through our partnership, you have local access to the world's most advanced research and amazing new discoveries that are advancing the cutting-edge of medicine, transforming chemistry into cures and treatments to extend the life of our patients.
Collaboration

The internationally acclaimed doctors of Penn Medicine are working together with Lancaster General Health's top doctors—across specialties—to surround each patient with the strongest team possible, focused exclusively on healing and getting them back to the life they want to live.
Personalization

By understanding the "who" of the patient—not just the "what" of their disease—together we create one-of-a-kind treatment plans that are uniquely designed around each individual patient. We understand it may be easier to heal at home, and so we work to seamlessly coordinate the treatments you can receive closer to home with the advanced care you may need in Philadelphia.
Cures

We are always in relentless pursuit of the cure…and through research conducted by amazing medical teams, groundbreaking clinical trials, and even by looking deep into the healing power of our patients' own DNA, we're finding it—and bringing it to patients in the region.
Hope

We see hope — even where others say there is none. In fact, when other doctors or hospitals have given you no more options, we have solutions. With access to life-changing, life-saving treatments, the partnership of Penn Medicine and Lancaster General Health rekindles hope in our patients every day.

Your Life is Our Legacy

We want to give you every option to live the life you want to live—and the success stories our patients share with us are living proof of that mission.

But you don't have to take our word for it. Check out these patient stories to see how Lancaster General Health and Penn Medicine work together to help people be healthy and well, every day.
